OverviewTraditionally a train city, Atlanta still provides the same yet more modern concept with its Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) system, which has more than 36 stations throughout the city. The trains cover 46 miles and average more than a 1/2 million passengers a week. Public transportation is also offered through the city’s 700 buses and 235 rail cars. The bus system covers more than 31 million miles annually, with 155 million plus passengers. It is classified as the safest mass-transient system in a city of a million or more by American Public Transit Association. The city is also proud to say the system is virtually graffiti free.
