OverviewHartsfield Atlanta International Airport is located just 10 miles south of downtown. Over 80 percent of America’s population lies within just two hours flying time from Atlanta. With the addition of the international concourse in l994, having 24 concourse gates, it is the largest international concourse in the United States. The airport is home to Delta Airlines.
Hartsfield increased its size in l995 to make air service available for the 1996 Olympics. And with the Olympics came state-of-the-art security along with improved landscaping. Hartsfield is just the second airport in the nation to implement a surface movement guidance and control system that involves enhanced runway lighting and other measures to insure safety during low-visibility flight conditions.
